PDM College of Pharmacy today announced scholarship for 2 academically strong but financially challenged students sponsored by Belco Pharmaceuticals. The scholarship will be awarded to two selected students on 4th April 2015. The guidelines for the scholarship are as follows:
1. BACKGROUND:
Merit Based
Scholarship Scheme announced and introduced by BELCO PHARMA on the event of APTI
Sponsored National Seminar in PDM College of Pharmacy held on 12th
April 2014. It is available to brilliant but poor students from Bachelor of
Pharmacy Course held at PDM college Of Pharmacy. This is available to
meritorious students of PDM college of Pharmacy. This Scheme will cover
students from First Year to Fourth Year.
2.
OBJECTIVE:
To provide
financial assistance to meritorious students from low income families to meet their
annual fee charges while pursuing B. Pharma course.
3.
SCOPE:
The
scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the results of Senior Secondary Examination
for Ist year B. Pharma students and for subsequent years on the merit of Year
wise subsequent examination held at PDM college of Pharmacy. Two fresh
scholarships will be awarded for graduate studies in PDM college of Pharmacy.
4.
ALLOCATION OF SCHOLARSHIPS:
The total
number of scholarships would be two which will be divided amongst the Four year
Bachelor degree programme on the basis of merit and Family income.
5.
ELIGIBILITY:
Students who
are at and above 70% percentage of total marks in the relevant Examination from
a particular Board of Examination, in class Xll of 10+2 pattern or equivalent or
1st, 2nd, 3rd year B. Pharma annual
examination marks at PDM institution and not availing any other scholarship
scheme, would be eligible for consideration under this Scheme. In addition to
merit, the Financial Position of a student would also be considered in the
ratio of 60:40 (Merit:Family Income). Students pursuing B. Pharma 1st,
2nd, 3rd and 4th year at PDM college of
Pharmacy can only apply under this scholarship scheme. This is applicable to all categories of
students both 'general' and 'reserved'.
Reservation:
Students belonging
to reserved categories/weaker sections/minorities are eligible on the basis of
merit. The Scholarship would be available to students belonging to 'non-creamy
layer'. There is no as such Reservation for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying for
the scholarship as it is totally based on MERIT and Annual Family Income.
6.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Candidates are
required to submit the documents mentioned in clause number 12 to the office by
18-03-15, 4.00 P.M.
The college examining
bodies will draw up a merit list of students likely to be eligible for
scholarship after the Last Date of Scholarship Form submission. The income of
the student’s parents will be taken into account before preparing the list. The
College will display the names of the shortlisted Candidates for consideration
the award of scholarships on the Bulletin Board/Website.
Candidate’s
selection shall be done by college administration on the basis of 60:40 ratio
of merit: family income. If none of the Candidates applying for scholarship
fails to meet up to 70% merit in respective examination or does not fall in the
specified income group, then the Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of Highest
Scored Merit (only) of a student and the decision by college administration.
7.
RATE OF SCHOLARSHIPS
The scholarship
would cover one academic year fee on the basis of the academic result. Each
year, up to 04 years the Scholarship in upcoming years shall be awarded to
deserving candidates.
8.
PARENTAL/FAMILY INCOME CEILING (40% Credit)
The Scholarship
offered at PDM College of Pharmacy is based on Merit as well as Financial
Position of a student, (60:40 ratio). Apart from MERIT being the deciding
factor, the Family/Parental Income will play a VITAL role in awarding the
scholarship. Parental Income shall not exceed 3 Lakhs per Annum.
9.
DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIPS:
A scholarship
under the scheme is extended from year to year during the four year degree course
pursuing at PDM college of Pharmacy. The recipient of Scholarship will depend
on promotion to the next class provided the student secures 70% or more marks
or aggregate in the preceding year of the annual examination. It will also be
subjected to discipline by the student. Complaints against the students
regarding indiscipline including any complaints of having indulged in ragging
would lead to forfeiture of scholarship.
Good conduct as
mentioned above is also required for award of the scholarship.
10.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship
will be awarded to the selected students directly to the College by BELCO
PHARMA
11. OTHER
CRITERION FOR GRANT OF SCHOLARSHIP
1. The
recipient must fill and submit the Scholarship Form, Income Affidavit and
Statement of Particulars Form available at college office before the deadline
for being considered for scholarship.
2. Applicant
must possess a minimum of 65% of overall attendance in past and current
sessions to qualify for the scholarship.
3. Applicant
must present a minimum of two Letters of recommendations from past school,
village/town administration office, Bank/Financial Institutions, Parent’s
Employer, etc. suggesting justifiable reasons for the scholarship to applicant.
4. The
applicant must have demonstrated active participation in extra-curricular
activities and college events and must have demonstrated leadership activities.
5. The
applicant after being shortlisted must be recommended by majority of college faculties
to receive the grant. Applicant might require explaining in front of panel of committee
members before receiving grant.
6. The
decision of the College will be final and binding in all such matters.
Scholarship once cancelled will not be revived under any circumstances.
12. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED

Cover Application with two recent passport size Photographs
Candidates applying for scholarship are required to
submit a Cover application with two recent passport size Photographs.

Filled
in Scholarship Form
The applicant should fillup the Scholarship Form and
submit the same.

Attested
Copies of Mark sheets and extracurricular activities
Applicant is required to submit the attested photocopies
of mark sheet and the certificates of extracurricular activities.
·
One Page Essay
The applicant
must write a one page essay with maximum of 1000 words explaining why she/he is
a suitable candidate for the scholarship grant. The essay will be evaluated on
the basis of:
Individual
determination to succeed in career
Future Goals
and Plans to achieve them
Ability to
communicate the hardships you have overcome or you have faced currently etc.

Letter of Recommendation
Applicant must submit
minimum two Letters of recommendations from either past school, Village/town
administration office, Bank/Financial Institutions, Parent’s Employer, etc.
suggesting justifiable reasons for the scholarship grant to the applicant.
· Statement of Particulars and Income Affidavit
A filled in
form for Statement of Particulars and Income Affidavit.
