National Seminar Organized at PDMCOP

PDM college of Pharmacy Proudly organized a one day National Seminar on “Essential Pharmacy Education and Research: Advanced Pharmaceutical Skills with Innovative Ideas” on 7th April 2015. The seminar saw a galaxy of Dignitaries from different pharmaceutical fields.

The chief guest of the program Mr. B. K. Gupta, Managing Director, Medicamen Biotech was joined on the dais by Guest of Honor Mr. P. K. Gupta, CMD, Belco Pharma, Prof. A.K Madan, Professor, Pt.B. D Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, Mr. R.K Harna, Retired AHDC,FDA Haryana, Mr. P P Sharma, Ex-Vice President of PCI, Dr. (Prof) V. R Singh, Director PDMCE and Dr. (Prof.)Hema Chaudhary, Principal, PDM College of Pharmacy.

The seminar started with the welcome speech of PDMCOP Principal, Dr. Hema Chaudhary where she thanked all guests and dignitaries from all around the country for making time to participate in the event. And she along with Dr. V R Singh, Director PDMCE, welcomed all the guests on dais by presenting them floral bouquet and token of love.
 
Her speech was followed by the address of Hon’ble Chief Guest of the Program Mr. B K Gupta. During his address, Mr. Gupta shared that he was pleased to be part of the event and thanked PDMCOP administration for making this possible. He highlighted the opportunities for the growth in Pharmaceutical industry. He briefed about the current status of indian pharmaceutical industry and noted it as the most growing field economically and opportunity-wise. At the end he committed to support college in every possible way by offering training and placements in his plant.
 
5After his address, Guest of Honor Mr. Prem K Gupta, CMD Belco addressed the gathering. On his speech filled with lot of examples of success stories, he spoke briefly on all career aspects in Pharmaceutical business right from retailing to establishing a Pharmaceutical plant. He has guided and motivated participants of the event by showing rare air opportunities and possibilities in pharmaceutical industry. He said he is eager in building long-term relation with the college for the benefit of the students as many of the students are offered training and job in his premise. He has announced a full fee waiver scholarship, “Nandini Foundation Scholarship”, sponsored by Belco Pharma last year on the seminar at the college which was later awarded to two deserving students. He also briefed on his humanitarian works and motivated students to uplift less privileged people whenever possible. He also runs a social organization, Nandini Foundation which offers free health-check up for the underprivileged people.
 
His session was followed by the release of scientific abstract CD. The college received numerous abstracts for poster presentation on the seminar. Among them 35 abstracts selected based on the quality and innovation were included on the CD. The CD was released by all the dignitaries on the dais.

This event was followed by announcement of winners of the “Nandini Foundation Scholarship”, Sponsored by Belco Pharma. This scholarship, announced by BELCO Pharma is awarded to two meritorious B. Pharm students with weak economic background. The scholarship committee laid the criterions for the selection and the students falling under this criterion were evaluated on the basis of academic performance, family economic status, extracurricular activities participation, letter of recommendations, statement of purpose and college attendance. The scholarship covers all four year fee of two selected students. CMD of BELCO Pharma Mr. P K Gupta handed the
cheque of amount covering four years fee of two students to Dr. V R Singh, Director PDMCE. The students who were awarded the scholarship were Mr. Bijay Gautam, Final Year B. pharm student and Mr. Billu Payal, B. pharm First year student. Both students were called upon on the stage and were congratulated for the award.
 
7After the announcement of scholarship, award was presented to meritorious students securing top three positions in annual University examination and to the students qualifying GPAT examination. The award for students winning different competitions organized by Pharma Buds was also presented during the event. With her vote of thanks, college principal announced the completion of formal event and beginning of scientific session which included poster presentation and scientific presentations. Dr. A K Madan, key-note speaker of the event gave presentation on the topic,“Multidisciplinary Development Process in Drug Discovery”. His presentation gave students insights on various aspects of drug discovery. His session was followed by lunch.
 
The first session after the lunch was presented by Mr. R K Harna. He gave his presentation on the topic, “Pharmaceutical Knowledge and Skills”. He gave his insights on the knowledge and skills required on pharmaceuticals.

9His session was followed by presentation of Mr. P P Sharma on the topic, “Validation in Pharmaceutical Industry. He discussed various aspects of validation and method of carrying validation. After his presentation he entertained questions from participants. After the completion of presentations, a short video on Pharma Buds, a students’ community at PDM College of Pharmacy was casted. This video kept participants engaged and informed about
the club and its activities while the result for poster designing competition was being framed.Then, the winner of poster designing competition was awarded with certificate. The winner for poster making competition was Mr. Abhijeet Debnath.
The event was then successfully completed.
